It surprises with an amazing change of pace in the melody and rhythm which suits the lyrics perfectly. Others, like ‘Light Me Up’ intoxicates you right away. ‘Heart of Gold’, ‘All You Never Say’ and ‘Maybe’ might be some of those songs. Some songs need to be listened to several times to be fully uncovered and convincing, to let them into your heart. Once again, her lyrics are mainly about family and friendship, strength and weakness, love and heartache, growing up but still being (too) young.īut it is missing a tiny bit of the drama of the first album. Birdy, now 17, wrote all 15 songs herself. All of this contributed to a perfect debut album from the first song to the last. The second album is a piece of art as well.

I absolutely admire Birdy for her dramatic first album with ‘Skinny Love’, ‘Shelter’, ‘People Help the People’ and other poignant songs. Her perfect voice, her lyrics full of love, you want to believe she herself had these experiences at the sweet age of 15 years. It entails lyrics full of wishes and dreams, thinking of someone but not being able to be together, followed by the regret that one does not have wings to fly. It is a typical Birdy song, and in addition to her outstanding voice and skills at the piano, the drums give this song a special notion. The first song off the new album, ‘Wings’, which had been released at the end of July fulfilled my high expectations I had on the second album right away. I’m not really sure what people did before the Internet, but now when you hear a song on the radio and if you didn’t already Shazam it while driving, then you can easily do a search to find any song, old or new, in just a few seconds.I have never waited for an album to be released. But for Fire Within from Birdy, I have with great anticipation. It doesn’t require you to sign up or anything, a simple web player pops up and starts playing the song. One nice feature is the ability to listen to the song while you have the lyrics up. If you click on the link, you’ll get the lyrics page. In my case, I went ahead and checked only Within Lyrics and then I got the Linkin Park result I was looking for: You can also do an exact match search if you want. Firstly, go ahead perform a search using the search box at the top.Īs with MetroLyrics, you can search on Artist, Album, Song Title and Within Lyrics. isn’t as nice looking as MetroLyrics, but it still returns very good results. Overall, this site is fine if you only want to search for lyrics, but it’s really good at keeping you engaged with a lot of other info if you’re someone who is interested in music. I also like the fact that it tells you who actually wrote the song, an item most lyric sites don’t mention. On the actual lyrics page, you can print the lyrics if you like, watch the music video if it’s available and even correct the lyrics since it’s community edited like Wikipedia. This site shows exact matches, but also shows close matches, so if you don’t get every word right, you should still be able to find the song. Also, I really like their search because there are a lot of times I can’t remember the exact words from the song, so I end up searching for the wrong lyrics. Sometimes having too many results can be overwhelming, but MetroLyrics does a good job of showing the best matches at the top and then showing the less relevant results below.

I clicked on Lyrics just to see those results and as you can see, it found the song I was looking for plus a whole bunch of other songs. The search feature is also pretty awesome in that it will search your keywords in not only lyrics, but also artists, song names, videos, album names and even the news. is probably my favorite site for searching for lyrics because it gives you a lot more information beyond what you were even looking for. Also, I tried to stick with ones that weren’t full of ads or simply indexed other lyric sites. There are literally hundreds of them, but I’ll only mention two here since I’ve never had to use any other service beyond the three I mention below. However, if the search is not working in Google because the lyrics are common, then you can try out a couple of useful lyric sites. You can also just add the word “lyrics” to the end of your search in Google and you are almost guaranteed to get the correct answer.
On top of that, you get links to YouTube videos, etc in case you were searching for that also. Since all of those sites are indexed by Google, performing a search on Google for song lyrics will give you the correct answer most of the time.
